Don’t miss GBROC- Great Barrier Reef Ocean Challenge and OC6 National Changeover Titles from 2-3 June.
The GBROC (Great Barrier Reef Ocean Challenge) is Australia’s longest distance outrigger race (45 km), starting at Yorkeys Knob and ending at Port Douglas.
In 2018, the National OC6 (6 person outrigger canoe) Changeover Titles will run in conjunction with GBROC and is a shorter 18km race (Mini G). This race will start at Cairns Marlin Marina and finish at Yorkeys Knob Beach.
Over two days, Hekili Outrigger Club is running a variety of races for outriggers, surf skis, and SUP boarders to compete in along the spectacular Cairns Marina to Port Douglas coast.
After the senior paddlers have raced, the junior and senior novices will compete in OC6 sprints at Yorkeys Knob.
To promote friendly club rivalry and foster the sport of outrigging, Saturday’s racing will conclude with a Club Relay comprising of junior and senior paddlers.
